Mouse to aim · left-click or Space to fire · R to reload — on touch: drag to aim, FIRE to shoot
Marksman is a browser shooting-range game that runs for exactly sixty seconds. There is no cover, no enemies and nowhere to move: you stand on the firing line, targets rise across the range at varying distances, and the only question is how many of them you can put a round through before the clock stops. It is built on a lightweight WebGL engine, needs no download, and plays with a mouse on desktop or a thumb on a phone.
Two rules turn that into a skill game rather than a click-count. The first is that where you hit matters: a shot near the middle of the plate is scored as a centre hit and pays substantially more than a shot that catches the edge, and it also sounds different, so you learn to recognise a good hit without looking at the score. The second is the no-shoot target. Those come up mixed in with the rest, and putting a round into one costs you 250 points and wipes your streak instantly. Firing quickly is not the winning strategy; firing quickly at the right things is.
The magazine holds twelve rounds and reloading takes real time out of your sixty seconds, so the ammunition is a resource as much as the clock is. A wild burst that misses three times does not just fail to score — it brings the reload forward, and the reload is time you are not shooting in. Distance is scored too: a far plate is worth more than a near one, which is what makes the back of the range worth the extra aim time.
Consecutive hits build a streak multiplier, and the multiplier is where big scores come from. Holding a streak means resisting the tempting shot: the plate that just appeared at the edge of your vision is worth points, but if it is a no-shoot, taking it costs you everything you have built. Targets also arrive faster as the run goes on, so the pressure to gamble grows exactly as the cost of gambling rises.
At the end of the run you are graded, and the grade uses accuracy as well as score — spraying rounds cannot buy a rank. You climb from Recruit through Qualified, Marksman and Sharpshooter to Expert, and your best score, best accuracy and current rank are saved on your device. If you like precise aiming under time pressure, try Eight Ball or Cube Siege 3D next.
Mouse to aim (click the range once to lock the cursor), left-click or SPACE to fire, R to reload. On touch: drag anywhere to aim, FIRE to shoot - you can keep aiming with the same thumb while firing - and the left button reloads. Hit the orange steel plates; the closer to the centre ring and the further out the plate, the more it scores. Never shoot the pale white plates.
